DISCOGRAPHY
Hydromatics first single
Heaven / Dangerous 7" single
(Rocketdog Records, Netherlands)
This first hydro release on my own little Rocketdog label contains 2 tracks from the "Parts Unknown" sessions, but the mixes are very different from the album : the Les Paul is turned way down in favor of the Mosrite guitar and there's an alternate vocal track on "Heaven". I stole the cover picture of a guy pumping gas while smoking a cigarette as it seemed to fit nicely with the title "dangerous" and of course, with the whole Motor City angle. Limited to 1000 copies and long sold out.
Hydromatics Parts Unknown album
Parts Unknown (LP / CD)
(White Jazz Records, Sweden)
Hydromatics debut album. We opted for a bunch of Sonics Rendezvous Band songs, and decided Scott, Nicke and myself should each pen two songs to contribute (Theo didn't want to write anything). So we did. Nick wrote his songs in my daughters room and we rehearsed them in my home to save time. The MC5 cover was a bit of a filler track but we all love that song. Personally I'm not too thrilled with the logo design, but what can ya do. It stuck. The first 1000 LP's pressed in clear vinyl.
Hydromatics Powerglide album
Powerglide (CD)
(CD : Freakshow Records, Italy / LP : Cargo Germany)
Second album on Freakshow Records from Italy which turned out to be a one man operation. We never met the guy, but he got a budget to work with, so we could practise, pay the studio, hire a brass section and some female back-up singers, which Scott really insisted we have on his new songs. An idea that actually worked quite well. Things with the label got sour quick. Hassle about invoices, payment for the session musicians and something about an Italian tax sticker on CD's or something. We never heard from the guy again. That was, until we found out that the LP version was "licensed" to Cargo Germany unbeknownst to the band. Could we get some copies ? I guess not. No credits, no royalties, no nothing. What else is new. Again, a sleeve design I don't like too much. All that wavy stuff just makes it look like a psychedelic band or something.
Hydromatics Live record
Hydromatics Live 10" mini-LP
(Pitshark, France)
Live recordings captured accidentally on cassette, DAT or some other medium during several European tours. (Don't tell aanyone, but actually, "Asteroid B612" and "Tumbling Down" were not recorded live before an audience, but recorded live on 4-track cassette in the rehearsal room during the "Powerglide" sessons). Sound board recordings are nearly always all drums and vocals, and no guitars so Theo pre-mastered all the sources for sound enhancement. Then the Gadge and I mastered it. The cover sleeve was designed by myself. It obviously had to be a live shot to capture the hydro rock action. I also wanted all 4 band members to be visible in the picture, and not some collage. This was one of the few good picture that fit those criteria. A fisheye and a blur effect were applied, to enhance the movement factor of it all. The message being : this is a ROCK band. Again the impossible shape of the band logo became a problem. The pink colorization was done by Pitshark, not by me.

"Hydromatics Live at the Underground CD
(bootleg)
This is a bootleg release. I don't know anything about it except it was recorded Oct. 16th, 2001 at the Underground in Cologne. If you want to shell out 20 bones for a copy, go here or here. Say hi from the band.
